Now comes the procession of flute-players (20-23) and cithara-players(24-27). The blocks are preserved in fragments, partially. Fragments preserving heads show that these are young men with curly hair held with a hair-band. They wear long chitons with sleeves and himatia. All are facing in the direction of the procession (to the left) except for figure (26) who stands frontally and plays his cithara, thus breaking the monotony of the onward course. The two first flutists (20 and 21) walk one behind the other, whereas the second two (22 and 23) walk side by side. Variety and contrast characterise the clothing: fine crinkly folds to render linen cloth are in sharp contrast to the wide and occasionally cylindrical folds of the woolen himatia.
