The Parthenon Frieze. Block S XV

Preserved at the left, partly broken off, is the forepart of the horse of rider (39) with the horse’s head and the rider’s leg. Next is depicted horseman (40), whose body is concealed by the horse behind him, and horseman (41). They both wear helmets with neck-pieces. Finally, detectable at the right is horseman (42), whose leg together with the forepart of his horse’s body can be seen continuing on block XVI.
